A young adult thriller that separates the haves and the have nots while an investigation into a suicide ensues. I was a fan of the journal telling the dead girls thoughts and events. It’s a clever way to work her perspective into the story. Instead of what everyone else thought of her.
While I’m not always a fan of YA or paranormal, I was a fan of how everything got into the thrashers head. I can see their age playing a big part in that. But I’d be remiss to not mention it is geared towards a YA reader and all of the characters make decisions like a YA.
I liked the twists and not easily being able to identify who was reliable. It did not make me long for my high school days or those mean girls.
Eva Kaminsky and Jesse Vilinsky do a great job of narrating the thrashers and setting the eerie tone. They definitely added to the atmosphere and story.

↠ 5 stars ⭐️
OOOOKAY JULIE 🔥 I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump this month, and decided to switch things up and pick up a thriller. And WOW, did The Thrashers deliver! 👏🏼 it had me in an absolute chokehold. I was hooked from the very beginning and I could not put it down. This is a “just one more chapter and suddenly it’s 3am” kind of thriller, and I absolutely loved it.
Fast-paced, utterly addictive, and dripping with drama and tension, The Thrashers was masterfully written. The characters were flawed and complex, each of them dealing with their own struggles, fears, and secrets that keep you guessing. The plot was enticing and full of twists and turns, and some of the events were downright eerie. I really loved the supernatural elements woven into this story. And I had a few new fears unlocked along the way.. lol. Its giving Final Destination.
And the epilogue alone deserves 5 stars. It was absolutely bone-chillingly genius! And I did not see it coming at all. I’m curious to see if there’s more to this story up Julie’s sleeve..? (please).
This might also be the first thriller to make me cry? Some moments hit so hard in the feels for me and I got super emo, and I thought Jodi was extremely relatable and I loved her. And that slow burn romance budding throughout? Oh, SO here for it. And I want MORE OF IT. Please, I’m begging for a even a crumb more!
If you’re looking for a fast-paced, tense, and bingeable thriller, this is THE ONE. Fans of Pretty Little Liars and 13 Reasons Why will eat this shit up. It also gave a bit of Euphoria vibes imo.. (come on, try to picture anyone other than Jacob Elordi as Zack).
I loved both of Julie’s romances, and I will now always read her thrillers—seriously, Julie, I NEED more! I mean, who else could have me on the edge of my seat, squealing and kicking my feet, AND in tears while reading a damn thriller? I’ll wait 💅🏼
Many thanks to the author, Wednesday Books, and NetGalley for the eARC! 🫶🏻

**This book deals with difficult subjects, including but not limited to suicide, substance abuse, bullying, and abuse. Please read mindfully.**
I went into this one completely unprepared and I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it! I didn’t even realize it was going to be a mystery/thriller. 😂
Being a teenage truly sucks and this book did a stellar job showing all the intricacies of that. Julie did such a good job handling such difficult subjects with so much care and concern. So many of the characters are messy and manipulative and untrustworthy but you never know when things will change. Even Jodi, who strives for honesty, proves herself to be a pretty unreliable narrator. Her lack of self-worth, constant doubt, and trauma made her such a compelling character. But the ending really drew everything together and showed a surprising amount of growth from a lot of characters. The payoff for this story is so worth it.
I absolutely loved the spooky vibes of this one. It added so much tension and mystery to the story and made it so hard to put down. Give me some unexplained paranormal activity and I will be both entertained and unable to fall asleep. 😂

Wow that was addicting!! Obviously it got a little ridiculous with the several final destination near death experiences, but I was hooked the whole time. The ending with all the secrets!!! Wish I knew what ended up happening with Julien after he gets out. I didn’t think I would like this as much because it’s YA/from high schoolers POV but it was very well done!
SPOILERS:
-I love that Jodi finally puts Zack in his place in the end. I could feel her hurt and frustration throughout feeling like the 5th wheel. The author did a good job making the reader second guess if the thrashers really were excluding Jodi.
- I figured the sister was behind most of the weird stuff.
- while it was sad to see Jodi participated in mean texts I thought that was so very realistic and didn’t fault her for it. Jodi was a good person and tried with Emily but in the end she was a teen and Emily was obviously strangely obsessive.
- the bottle throwing being Paige was a strange twist.
- I wish we would find out if Jodi and Julien ended up together. So creepy he is the one keeping Emily away from Jodi.
- the whole bathtub thing! With the sister being there and how Emily did it all for attention gone wrong. Wow.

Okay, I ate this up. It is definitely YA, and a bit kid-ish at times, But I still enjoyed it! And the epilogue literally had me smiling! I do feel there are some gaps in the story but a quick, fun read no doubt.
The chilling prologue had me hooked immediately. The Thrashers by Julie Soto is the definition of unputdownable. The suspense, the twists, and the chilling moments were perfectly paced. I lost count of how many times I gasped or felt actual chills.
The dynamics between friends, the pressures, the secrets—it all felt authentic, making the mystery even more gripping.
Soto does an incredible job of capturing that high school tension while layering in a plot that would translate flawlessly into a YA thriller movie.
And that ending?! Jaw-dropping. Someone please talk to me about that epilogue.
