Now I can understand why so many relationship content creators on social media and other counsellors continuously refer to this book - not only does it read easily (for me as non-native English speaker) despite the scientific background, it also uses lots of examples and exercises to reflect on the parts that have been written, which makes the "lessons" even more tangible.

For me, after reading this book, I can tell that not only I feel called out in the most non-offended, much needed way, but also that I was able to reflect on my past relationships in a way and depth I wasn't able to before. PLUS this book made me realize once again (big time) how much of a lottery win my secure partner is, by showing how this kind of people/angels is regulating others and by encouraging me to effectively communicate my needs and feelings. Something that always seems to be THE most difficult task.

Beyond grateful that I finally picked up this book and can't wait to see how its magic will unfold in the near and further future.

I actually read this twice in a row because there was honestly so much information. There were a ton of examples in the book of the different attachment styles so many in fact that sometimes I got lost in the weeds about a dozen and a half times. The epilogue/conclusion was good and summarized the book really well. I think me being so confused kind of exemplifies that it’s both a complex topic and I wish the book was maybe laid out in a more reader friendly way. I don’t know how! But I wish it was different! The book is very binary and falls short in a lot of ways but ultimately, I think the message of “you actually need to communicate with people and like not being straight up with people will actually hold YOU back” is worthwhile.
