I feel like it’s been ages since we got a book from Lucy Lennox, even though it hasn’t been. I just really love her books and selfishly want them to be back to back releases, otherwise, I miss them like it’s been years and years. We are one and a half books into this new series, and it’s already giving me Made Marian success level vibes.
It was not hard to fall in love with this book; in fact, it was entering the instalove territory. On the surface, Mikey and Tiller were opposites, but they had a lot in common, including secret feelings for each other. Beyond being a bad idea because of the boss/employee angle, it was off-limits because Mikey was Tiller’s coach’s son; his YOUNGEST son. Coach has hard lines, and that is one of them. Too bad their hearts didn’t agree with the memo.
I loved their easy banter, how well they really knew each other, and the depth of their friendship. It wasn’t hard to slide into more, despite the knowledge of Coach's wrath hanging over their heads. They already had everything a relationship includes, except for the intimate activities. I enjoyed the pace of their relationship, before and after giving in to temptation. It felt organic. What I did not enjoy was Mikey’s dad. He was a piece of work. Karma is taking notes.
This book was full of a beautiful storyline and well-developed characters. These guys are ones you would want to spend time with, and this town is one you’d easily visit. I enjoyed my time in Aster Valley and can’t wait for the next book.

This was a fun little read! My only complaint is I didn't love the five years we missed out on. I had a hard time believing Raine and Mikey lived together for 5 long years before waking up to their uncontrollable desire for each other! I also wish we had got more of an enemies to lovers. Mikey didn't really like Raine when he agreed to be his chef. I wish maybe we could've seen more of that.
Besides that I had a great time and I flew through this book. I love how the big tough football star Raine was so head over heals for Mikey. Mikey may have had doubts but once Raine decided he was the one, he was in it to win it.
I really hated Mikey's family. I also had a hard time believing they would be so awful to him. I wish we could've seen the parents interact with his siblings. Were they just bad parents or was it a homophobia thing? I hated that Mikey's mother's only real trait was being an air head. Oh and his father can go suck rocks. I wish we could've gotten an epilogue with how Mikey handled his father going forward. It sounded like during Football season he was planning on living in Texas with Raine. How did he deal with his father being around? How did Raine deal with Mikey's father after what an ass hat he was?

Aww I really enjoyed this book. The main characters were both really likeable and there were lots of sweet moments here.
liked the writing and characters. story was actually good. felt like some of mickey’s family drama wasn’t totally resolved but maybe that’s just my need for angst shinning through. would re-read.
Falling in love with Aster Valley...
Raine and Mikey are a breath of fresh air! There were several little surprises in this one, but they were presents just waiting to be unwrapped. Lucy deals with family issues and things like feelings of inadequacy so well and this is no exception. I also loved that we got to see favorite characters from Winter Waites again. This is another one click title and now I can’t wait for Sweet as Honey!
