Overall this was a fairly enjoyable book and a surprisingly faithful retelling of Jane Eyre. Edward Rosen was the perfect Mr. Rochester albeit he was a little too attractive as such. Jane Raine was also a good Jane Eyre but with more confidence and, again, prettier. (I guess people don't like to write/read about unattractive people??)
I would have enjoyed this book more without the excessive language and a few other things like that that did nothing to better the story. However, I appreciated that it was closed door.

The burn was not slow, it was too fast for their situation. The addition of another male interest was not to my liking as well.
I picked this one up because I read Melodie Edwards’ other novel, Once Persuaded, Twice Shy, last year and really enjoyed it, and I liked this one just as much! I thought the author did a great job of keeping the spirit of the original characters while throwing them into a modern day world. I will admit that I was worried I would be put off by the work/boss relationship and age gap, but I thought the author actually did a really good job of making the relationship compelling, and something I could root for. I would recommend it even if you're unfamiliar with the original story!
A modern retelling of Jane Eyre, Jane & Edward is a must-read romance filled with love, hope, and its fair share of drama.
Jane and Edward were two lost and broken souls just trying to navigate their way through all that life threw their way. Edward was the definition of a grump and Jane may have seemed like a quiet girl, but working with Edward brought out a different side to her. Jane was ready for the challenge Edward presented her and wasn't about to let him push her away. The push and pull between Jane and Edward was intense and I loved their slow-burning romance.
Like any good love story, Jane & Edward is filled with its fair share of drama, and the ups and downs the characters must face and I think the author did an amazing job with the tough moments.
Jane & Edward is a fresh take on the story of Jane Eyre. Even though it's a modern retelling, the message and the roots of the original story are still there. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story and look forward to checking out more from this author in the future.

This was adorable!
~Jane is tired of scraping by. Striving for more, she takes classes to become a legal assistant. Never did she think she would be employed at a distinguished law firm or that she would be the assistant to a grumpy and extremely difficult lawyer. She’s determined to remain Mr. Rosen’s assistant unlike many before her. When they start to get close and comfortable, she makes a discovery that changes everything.~
Wow, this was so good. Jane is such a badass. The way she stands up for herself is so inspiring. She seems like a meek thing but she doesn’t let anyone walk over her. I loved her views on life.
Edward.. yum. I really felt for him near the end though. I couldn’t imagine having to do something like that.

I had a great time with this one. It went a bit flat for me 70% and I actually haven’t read Jane Eyre so maybe I’m the problem, who knows

While it's been a few years since the last time I read Jane Eyre, I still thought this novel captured the essence of Jane and her strength and resiliency. I adored both Jane and Edward, and the story captured me from the very beginning. I could easily imagine Jane in this modern-day role.
