I really love Alice in wonderland so much, I haven’t seen any of the films but I’ve read multiple versions of the book many times and I absolutely love it every time

I read these books out loud to J. We would read a chapter, and then go back and read the notes for that chapter. We really enjoyed the stories by Lewis Carroll, and I think that the notes added a lot to our understanding of the text. The notes enrich the story by pointing out things we would have missed, and expanding on the backgrounds that we wouldn't have known, so they definitely add to the appreciation of the books. However, the notes can be quite tedious at times. I'd say that only about 50% of the notes were really interesting or helpful. But it was wonderful to read the Alice books in full. They're obviously wonderfully enjoyable books. Their nonsense, non-sequitur events were a bit frustrating for me, at times because I wanted there to be more of an over-arching storyline, as the movies have. But the notes helped me to appreciate even that lack of plot. All in all, an enjoyable read. (We also watched the new Alice in Wonderland movie by Tim Burton. A fantastic edition to the books!)

Liked the puns but wasn't as enchanted by it as I believed I would be.

5/5 stars, I adore the story so much. One of the first chapter books I read growing up. To this day I absolutely adore the story and it's one of my favorites:)
