A wonderful book. I’ve always liked gothic fiction, which fits [b:Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde|232300|Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with the Merry Men & Other Stories|Robert Louis Stevenson|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1407244689l/232300._SY75_.jpg|55660851] perfectly. The other stories this book contains are also fun to read, however some are difficult and it took me an awful lot longer to get through than a normal set of short stories.

Still, definitely worth a read.

Maybe I just went from contemporary to classic too fast and the change of writing style and language put me off, but this was hard work. Also I thought there would be more to the Jekyll and Hyde story than the rough outline I had in my head but it doesn't seem so. I got half way through the next short story and, after finding two words I've never heard in 23 years of being a native English speaker, and way too much general grim description of graverobbing creeps I gave up.

The audio-book that I listened to only had the Jekyll and Hyde story so this is just a review for that!

4.5 stars - I loved this story a lot. Gothic literature is just so melodramatic and grimly whimsical that I fall in love right away. I loved how Stevenson explored the duality and non-mutual-exclusivity of good and evil.

If chapter 10 didn't exist, the rating would be higher.
