This is brilliant and can not wait to hear what my students thing of it! Let's see what theories they come up with!
"Sam e Dave Cavaram um Buraco" foi um título pra obra que me conquistou por ser inusitado. A história de Marc Barnett é bem simples e um tanto surrealista. As ilustrações do Klassen, como sempre, são o ponto forte. Uma gracinha!
Cute story about what you may miss if you don't follow through with your original plan.
Wonderful story told with limited words and wonderful visuals.
This is a very creative book to read aloud. Encourage the students to look carefully at the pictures. Sam and Dave are digging quite the hole, changing directions and missing all the buried diamonds. The dog seems to sense where everything is. At the end, the students I read this to (preschoolers) did notice that they are in a different place--we did a search between the pictures to try to spot what had changed. They also really liked the diamonds that were underground.

I tell you what, Sam & Dave really know how to dig. Their parents must be miners or something. They dig these elaborate tunnels looking for something interesting. The cute thing about this beginning story, is that we are able to see in the dirt around them and we see all the diamonds they are missing by inches. They have the worst instincts for digging as every time they are getting close to a diamond, they decide to change directions.
The kids were going nuts. It’s right there, they need to keep going. They were trying to get the kids to change directions. The nephew kept saying they were so close. The nephew got a little excited over this and he liked this book. He gave it 4 stars. The niece thought this book was amusing. She gave it 3 stars.
The artwork is very minimalist in some ways. It has lots of negative space I think is what you call it, or just space. It is not frilly. It is a cute story.

There was basically only one joke in this whole book, but I still enjoyed it. Also, Jon Klassen is one of the best illustrators in the biz, so that always helps.
