I wanted this book to be better than it was. I'm not sure what was off, but it just didn't have the pulse pounding drama or the personal insight that I expect from King. The story was fairly interesting if not a bit predictable and I did like that characters, but not a whole lot went on when you really think about it. And the characters spent the whole time in a slow motion fight for their life with very few real moments of terror. At the same time they also didn't really grow as characters either. Overall a decent read, but I'm not surprised this is a King book that didn't receive much attention.

I wasn't blown away but I liked it nevertheless. It certainly lacks action and could have done with a better ending but I found the characters well-developped and some were quite compelling. I don't want to give away any details... My advice is; if you're a SK fan, go for it. In case you're new to the world of Mr. King and you decided to give the author a shot, I would recommend picking another novel (IT, The Stand, Pet Sematary, Misery...).

Maybe the worst Stephen King book? It’s certainly down there, for abandoning all the characterisation and depth we usually enjoy from the master of horror.

I actually really enjoyed this! I genuinely enjoyed the whole premise, King's take on the zombie apocalypse and zombies was interesting to say the least. Again he creates a world for me to fall into immediately and full bodied characters. Very enjoyable, quick read.

It's a 4 from me.
