Thrilling novel. Pretty gruesome and dark which I loved. Plot was great, fast paced.
Issue is with the ending - would have liked Clay to find Tom and Jordan again? Or make a move to find them. I hope that would've happened.
The cliff hanger was unexpected. I thought if Johnny came back then it would've been a cliche ending, so this way it's up to what I think would have happened. And that I do not know. Perhaps he came back, but maybe he became even more fried from another Pulse. The dates at the end was confusing, I wonder what they mean?!

Este livro começa de forma muito calma, num dia normal como qualquer outro em que acompanhamos um homem que vai comprar um gelado depois de receber boas notícias a nível profissional, até aqui tudo bem, quando do nada tudo à sua volta começa a colapsar, as pessoas entram em loucura total e a matarem-se umas às outras e a fazer coisas impensáveis e temos aqui a rampa de lançamento para esta história completamente tirada do outro mundo que nos trás Stephen King.
Ao longo de todo o livro é nos dado a conhecer diversas personagens, mas tendo sempre por núcleo o homem que falei que aparece no início, Clay Riddell, Tom McCourt, Alice Maxwell e Jordan. Vamos acompanhar este grupo na luta pela sobrevivência numa sociecade que colapsou devido a um impulso que foi transmitido pelos telemóveis.
O tão conhecido thriller de King está presente, o sangue, as entranhas, o suicídio, as descrições específicas de situações um pouco (ou muito) nojentas. O que me fez adorar, sendo que são estas questões ligadas ao thriller e terror de King que me deixam cada vez mais impressionada com este autor.
Eu atribuí o que para mim é uma avaliação um pouco baixa a este livro por duas razões: uma esperava que efetivamente ao longo do livro, ou mesmo no fim, nos fosse dado uma resposta concreta a uma série de questões levantadas ao longo do livro e que são respondidas com suposições das personagens, mas nunca uma resposta em concreto, em segundo porque termina com um final aberto que me deixa muito revoltada e confusa com a história.
Existe uma adaptação em filme de 2016 deste livro, que eu assisti depois de ler o livro e respondendo à pergunta: vale a pena ver o filme? Não. Não se quiserem ler o livro, se quiserem ver para ver um pouco desta história sem ler o livro, aviso que há bastantes diferenças do livro para o filme, diferenças que para mim alteram a história por completo de um para o outro.

La premisa de este libro me recordó a lo que pasa en la película de Kingsman. Los celulares de pronto se sincronizan y emiten una señal que hace que la gente se vuelva locamente agresiva. Así, se junta un grupo de sobrevivientes tratando de encontrarle sentido a la vida en este nuevo mundo en el que deben dormir de día y salir de noche para evitar a la gente loca.
Se pone bastante más trippy y complejo cuando se dan cuenta que los locos están como sincronizados entre ellos telepaticamente y... Aunque suene muy jalado, los personajes del grupo venden la historia. Sobre todo Clay, el principal, cuyo objetivo es reunirse con su hijo.
Disfruté mucho de todo este libro, y a ratos era medio cringy por lo violento, pero siempre para mantener un sentido de urgencia y terror. Muy entretenido.

Honestly - even those this concept is a little outdated - I enjoyed the ride. It was a fun audiobook and it kept me intrigued. In Cell, everyone who is on their cell phones on a normal October afternoon, are suddenly turned into crazies. They will bite and attack anyone or anything that gets in their way. Clay is in Boston for an important meeting and is instantly terrified. On the way back to his hotel he bands up with another man, Tom, and they carefully try to see shelter. They rescue a teenaged girl named Alice and soon the trio realizes they need to flee Boston before it burns to the ground. Clay desperately wants to get back to Maine to see if his son and ex-wife are ok - but doing so seems near impossible. The phone crazies are everywhere and they are starting to organize - they start flocking together and soon it is only safe to travel at night. A new apocalyptic tale that doesn't seem as relevant since no one really talks on phones anymore - they just text. Still a fun (and gory) horror read filled with interesting characters. Gotta love Stephen King!
Knowing how tied this culture is to cell phones, this book seems like a good reminder that all is not as it seems. The story itself, I suppose is supposed to be a horror novel, but like many post apocalyptic stories, there are sections where you are envious of the lives the people live.
King does, as always, a great job of bringing the reader along and making the reader look forward to the ending they might have already presumed will happen.
One fun part is that living in the region the book takes place, you can see different parts of the book and see where roads, or towns are renamed/made up.
