Overall a solid book, but definitely not King’s best work. The book immediately starts with drama which I love, but can be a little predictable. Definitely don’t regret reading.
tense medium-paced

I haven't read this one in a while. A great book, but I forgot I really hated the ending.

No book has ever made me more angry. The first two-thirds I enjoyed. The rest, not so much. I had to add this to my Goodreads so I would never again pick this one up.

Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Yes

Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

It has an open end, which can be bad for some people.

This was good but not great. The ending, as usual for King, was lackluster. Interesting characters and the plot moved along nicely.

After a ‘pulse’ goes out to every cell phone, Clay Riddell and a group of other survivors try to navigate this new world where society is separated into two groups - normies, and phone-crazies (who were affected by the Pulse). Clay is looking for his young son after the world changes and works with friends he meets along the way to get up to Maine from Boston. As they travel, though, they notice the people changed after the Pulse evolve and adapt to their new state - they shift from mindless and murderous animals to almost-human like adversaries with some powers. This book feels almost like a zombie apocalypse book but with a unique and original twist. In the age of technology, and in a world where humans are only getting increasingly more intertwined with their tech, this book made me genuinely afraid of the potential of the things I take for granted.

First Stephen King book I've gotten through and actually liked. Loved it actually. Amazing book.
