I am beyond devastated that this series is over. Absolutely fantastic. A job well done.

Didn’t like beginning- Amani was lost, unsure how to lead, reckless- Halas death could have been avoided. Liked how some chapters were storytelling, and how gradually shifted to telling stories of them- became heros. Sad that Sam also died. Feel like should’ve had a “final battle” w Sultan. Interesting how Zaahir(Sin Catcher djinni) put twist on ring- although thought was :/ when djinni wanted to punish Amani instead of thank her for releasing them. Liked how ending tied everything together- Amani playing w “gods” reminded me of tog and plot/setting overall reminded me of Ember in the Ashes. Liked how Amani wasn’t perfect- showed she was selfish, and showed character development from only caring abt herself to doing things for the greater good. Also liked how we learned what her mom wished for at end.

While the second book in this series dragged a bit for me, dang am I glad I pushed through to this finale. I’m not much of a book crier - but this one had me in tears for the last 50 pages. Amani struggles so much in this book and has to make so many heartbreaking and difficult decisions, but at the book’s peak she is selfless and wonderful. The author doesn’t hold back from showing that for a rebellion to succeed, good people will die. I enjoyed trying to figure out how the djinn would trick them next and thought the politics played out very interestingly in this book.
Overall, this series really grew into its own. The characters grow and change beautifully, the rebellion isn’t smooth and clear cut at all times and the magic is interesting without being the end all be all. I’ll definitely come back to reread this series and won’t quickly forget Amani and Jin and the rest of the rebel crew.

My rating is more like a 4.5. This series has some really beautiful moments that I’ll never forget. I’ve been knocking the other books in the series down for being a little too cheesy at times (maybe not even cheesy, just too romantic for me) but even those moments, in this book were justified and even enjoyed on my part. ALSO, the twists!!
Endlich der Abschlussband einer tollen Reihe, aber irgendwie hat mich das Finale nicht ganz so umgehauen.
Man kommt wieder gut in die Geschichte rein und die Autorin weiss wie man an Hand der Geschehnisse sich wieder an alles erinnert. Der Einstieg in die Geschichte ist sehr turbulent und sieht ausweglos aus. Imin tot, der Prinz, Shazad und Delia weg und der kleine Rest der von den Rebellen noch über ist sitzt in der Stadt fest. Um einen Ausweg zu finden müssen Amani und die anderen einen gefährlichen Weg gehen.
Die Geschichte hat viele spannende Episoden aber dazwischen ist es zeitweilig auch ein wenig lang gezogen gewesen.
Interessant war zu erfahren was sich die Mütter der Demdji für ihre Kinder gewünscht haben und wie sich das erfüllt hat.
Leider hat mir so gar nicht gefallen wer da noch so sterben musste. Bei einer Person fand ich es leider auch unnötig.
Spannend wurde es nochmal gegen Ende nur ist mir der Sultan ein wenig zu leicht davon gekommen, damit war mir das Ende zu schnell da gewesen.
Der Schreibstil war wieder sehr mitreißend gewesen.
Für mich ein solider Abschluß aber auch nicht mehr.

I am speechless. This is the best way the trilogy could have ended. I totally loved it.
