Love the spooky vibe. I liked the story and the characters. I loved the illustrations and the journal entries.

After finishing, I'm left feeling a little unsatisfied. I wish there was more depth to the story.

V.E. Schwab always creates such whimsical and weird worlds for her stories. Unfortunately, I did not like this book. I found it to be very slow and the main character to feel very one note (honestly all the characters felt pretty flat). I think a more interesting story would've been the story of her parents. It was feeling like it was going to be a 3 star read but I LOATHED the ending.
