This story really surprised me. I HATED the main character at the start but once we meet her family I did a total 180 on her.

V.e. Is a wonderful writer. This story is gothic and sad and a great read. Having read their other works (darker shade of magic) it was also fun to have a head cannon that this was a similar situation of “red” Gallant and “black” Gallant struggling against each other.
