Somehow this one felt like believable than most. Lol. And that’s saying a lot considering we went to the future on the moon in a recent volume. Maybe this one just felt more magical.

This is the second Magic Treehouse book I’ve read with my 5 & 4 year olds. They are fully entrenched and delighted by the premise of a magic treehouse and they enjoyed this adventure because it included animals. I appreciate that there are a few scientific facts learned along the way. Overall it’s not the greatest writing ever, nor super interesting, but it works for the target age range I guess. We haven’t read in order but the parts of the story we missed out on were summed up well enough that it didn’t matter. We have a few more Magic Treehouse books purchased secondhand but I’ll be happy to move on to a different series, I can’t imagine reading all forty or so editions in the series.

I loved this book. I learned a lot about the Arctic. For example “igloo” means house and polar bears can balance on really thin ice.

We read this in one sitting. I love all the facts sprinkled in the story. Also, the author shows kids how to take notes.
I'd give it four stars but we read this one after the one about the Unicorn in the Blizzard and that was a tough one to follow.

Eleanor says: I liked when the polar bears were sliding on their bellies. The Arctic was super duper cold, colder than you could imagine. It was very nice for the seal hunter to help Annie and Jack. It was scary when the ice started to crack, but the momma polar bear kept them safe.

I like how Magic Tree House books integrate non-fiction with it's fictional story. Sometimes the integration is a little bit clunky. The vocabulary, especially the scientific vocabulary, would probably be difficult for the age group who'd be trying to read this. However, it was an interesting read and I'm sure kids that already like the Magic Tree House series or similar series would enjoy this.

Another good installment in the series. Unfortunately, it wasn’t my favorite but I’m excited for Jack and Annie to take on another story arc since they are now master librarians.
