This book kind of blew me away. I was hooked immediately - the premise of children everywhere dying from some unknown disease that didn't affect adults was SO intriguing to me and I was unable to put it down.
It suffers from a slight trope (love triangle) but not enough to irritate as it is quickly resolved and leaves you going "yeah that's better". :p
The ending was utterly heartbreaking and I am so stoked to pick up the next book and find out what happens next.

Well it took me 2 tries to get through this book but I ended up really liking it. It was very X-Men meets WWII because of the camp they get sent too.

I liked Ruby. She was one of those characters that evolved through the story and grew to be a strong person. All of the other characters were so unique and I especially loved the little romance between Liam and Ruby. It wasn't one of those romances that would hit you in the face obnoxious where it didn't fit into the story which I liked.

Students will enjoy this book although the size might scare them but hopefully they will look past that and want to read on in the series!

Oh gods. I was crying so hard by the end of the book. Alexandra Bracken how can you write such a heartbreaking, mind blowing, ruthless, tragic, and hauntingly beautiful ending.

I didn't expect too much from this book, especially since it is a dystopian novel and I have a tendency to not like those, but I was pleasantly surprised. I loved just about everything about this novel. I loved the characters and the writing was good and compelling and I never knew what to expect. It was something different and had me at the edge of my seat the whole time right to the end, which I didn't see coming. I loved the relationship between Ruby and Liam because it took time to develop and felt like they had a real bond and connection. I liked that Liam wasn't just this cool hot guy like in so many other novels, but he was quirky and unsure of himself and just generally a nice guy and that is what she liked about him rather than his glistening muscles or whatever other books do that puts me off. I really want to read the second book to this, but I am afraid I won't like it as much since it left it at a very dark and depressing point. I'm not sure things will get any better for them any time soon and sometimes a book can be too heavy for too long (for me). Other than that I liked the antagonist, Clancy, and couldn't be entirely sure whether I should like him or not. I definitely recommend this book to just about anyone over the age of thirteen or so, and plan on reading the rest of the series. I hope I like it.

It would have had 5 stars if it wasnt for her horribly annoying self-hating, pity party POV the book is written in. Otherwise, very talented author and sucked me in enough to want to finish the other books.
