Omg!! I finished this book in one day! I couldn’t put it down! This is the second book I’ve read by this author the other was Verity. Her writing is so good and makes you feel so much!

wow. This book was definitely a roller coaster of emotions. I’m not sure how to feel. While I was reading the book, I definitely didn’t think the book was going to be as good as it was, and thought I was going to have to give it three stars, but the ending definitely made up for it. I think my true rating for the book would be 3.5 stars but I rounded it up to four because I think it truly deserved it.

I also don’t think I like Miles as much as others do just because of his actions near the end of the book….but that might just be me

spoiler

edit: thinking back on this, I kinda think this book only deserves two stars ONLY because I hated the scene where Tate told miles to “just finish,” it just didn’t sit with me right. also the fact that he actually did even though he knew it was wrong because Rachel said the same thing to him before. With that, I despise how quickly Tate forgave him, I understand he had trauma and he needed to get over that, but where was her self dignity? kinda aggravating.

Colleen Hoover’s writing style gives me strong millennial wattpad vibes (said lovingly as a millennial who read wattpad back in the day). It’s compulsively readable except for the times when I need to physical put the book down because I cringed so hard. I definitely understand the appeal, but I’m not sure this really worked for me in 2024.

3.5 stars

this book seemed like it was 65% sex scenes and 35% story, which is fine just not my cup of tea atm!

i also found some aspects of it a little weird, mostly in regards to Miles and his character, but overall i liked it :)

My introduction to Colleen Hoover came in the form of Ugly Love and boy does love get ugly. Tate is the i-don’t-have-time-for-love girl and Miles is the I’m-an-asshole-who-doesn’t-deserve-love guy and they’re just the perfect match for each other ✨ it’s like a romcom that sneaks up and sucker-punches you in the heart 👊🏼 Also, Miles is a pilot and if that doesn’t get you to read this, then I don't know what will!

I love a two person perspective, especially with Miles being written in his thoughts/poetry form. It adds an element. Steamy, good plot, and enough to evoke emotions.

I just finished this book. This is the second Colleen Hoover book I have read and as much as I am obviously not her intended reader, I still very much enjoyed this book. I think Tate was very self aware, but at the same time I found myself thinking how I wouldn’t have stuck around because Miles was very convincing in his act of not loving her. I would have walked many times before Miles came back for her. The whole Rachel thing made me a little uncomfortable because it happened sooooo fast. Then when the accident happens I was kinda annoyed that she blamed him for years when in reality it wasn’t really his fault. The amount of times I wanted to shake him and being like STOP THIS! Haha. I also found the protective brother thing a little misogynistic, but glad Tate pointed that out. Loved the little twist with Cap near the end of the book. Some very cute moments and I find comfort in reading a Colleen Hoover book like it feels like an easy comfortable read.
