Man, when you say "Ugly Love", you ain't joking. This book showed the good, bad, ugly, taboo, and downright upsetting parts of love, but the execution was done so well.
Tate and Miles start off, essentially, as neighbors with benefits. Miles has a tragic past he refuses to discuss, and he also refuses to ever fall in love again. Tate, on the other hand, falls for Miles and falls fast.
I liked how the two timelines flowed together seamlessly. The present from Tate's POV kept us in her head and gave us her outward perspective on Miles and his actions, while the past from Mile's POV filled in the gaps of why he acted the way he did. The story is rough, full of emotion, and kind of makes you cringe a little at times (not because of bad writing but because of content), but once you get to the meat of the story, it's shocking.
The chapters from young Miles’s perspective were annoying and infuriating. I absolutely could not stand the repetition, especially when it came to Rachel's name. Good Lord, how many times do you have to say her name, dude? We get it! Granted, it was from a teenage boy's POV, so I get that it was probably purposefully written to sound smitten, but it was overkill.
When you finally find out what the cover of the book means and why Miles is so closed off...oh, man. I was so saddened. It came out of nowhere, and once it happened, all the pieces fell into place.
This would have been a 5-star read if not for one element that came in at the end. That one thing almost always ruins an ending for me, but it did not ruin the book as a whole. Aside from that one element, I was happy with how things turned out.

I always heard people recommended Colleen Hoover. I had so many other books on my TBR that I disregarded these recommendations. After reading Ugly Love, I’m sorry I ever did. This book is amazing and I can’t wait to read another of her books. She effectively ripped my heart out and out it back together again.
This one I felt like took a while for me to get into. Not to mention I felt like things kept repeating and no answers as to why with the interactions. I like Miles’s part but it took a bit to figure out why we were having this shared and what it meant.
The only reason it took me this long to finish it is because I left it at home while I was on a trip. Talk about a page turner. Steamy and it pulled on the heart strings. I loved the poetic format. I appreciated the resolution.
Yes, it did make me tear up.

I DO NOT accept ANY type of criticism about this book, is a masterpiece in my eyes and that’s what counts
I couldn't put this book down.
I cried, no, balled my eyes out for the last 30 pages.
This book was so good.
Realistic? No.
A literary masterpiece? No.
But so good.
Did I mention it's so good?
Usually when authors switch character perspective with every chapter it annoys me, but I really enjoyed her writing style.

Wow. I really enjoyed this book, so much so that I finished it in 5 hours… all the feels.
