A short and heart-rending account of life in residential school. Highly recommend borrowing this one from the library.

A great read for children to learn about the residential schools that Indigenous children were forced to attend.

This tenth anniversary edition of David A Roberton's residential school survivor graphic novel should be a must read for all high school students. It covers the heartbreaking story of Betsy Ross, who attended the Cross Lake Indian Residential School. She shared her story with the author in hopes that it would help readers understand the strength and resiliency of Indigenous people and especially Residential school survivors, and how that strength is tied to "stories, cultures, families, and language." HIGHLY recommended!

Wow oh wow that story was short but it dealt with a lot in illustrating residential schools and the resilience of survivors. I read this for my lit class and I think it's important for everyone to read 5/5 for me.

4.5 for me - I would have liked to see a bit more connection to the impact on the high school students and future generations as a result of the bravery of kokum sharing her story.

A short but incredibly important graphic novel telling the story of one experience at a residential school. I was deeply moved and saddened by this story. I knew of what happened to many who were forced to attend a residential school but have never read a story about someone’s experience. Will definitely be looking for more stories of this terrible experience.
