This was a good book with great writing. I was interested in and invested in the characters.
And then it ended... Um... The story wasn't over yet.

Loved it! I always fall in love with one or more of her characters.
Passed the time just fine..
but was Micah on the spectrum? I couldn't figure it out.

Classic Anne Tyler. Quirky characters (some of whom seem familiar). Ordinary setting. Ambling plot.
But a really relaxing read. I just buzzed right through this (after starting, then rejecting, or putting on pause, two other books). There were delightful moments as the Technology Hermit tried to help senior citizens and the technologically clueless use their computers. And an 18-yr old kid who complicates life, but also enriches it. Delightful.
Anne Tyler has written other, deeper and more moving books, but this one was true to life and ended with a hopeful scenario. I enjoyed it. Now--back to those other books.

A charming, sweet novella. I loved the richness of the characters Tyler was able to draw in such limited space.

I enjoy Ann Tyler, but her latest novel felt like she was calling it in. It starts with the typical Ann Tyler main character, and I finished it within a couple of hours. For some, it may be perfect pandemic reading, and that's great. For me, it was too much rehash of earlier characters and plots.
sweet
What a lovely story about a man and his relationships. Not just relationships with people, but with the objects in his house. Well written, exquisitely paced, and a super short novel worth every moment of your time.
