What can I say about this book? I am a library-goer, and all our libraries are closed, so I really need to have faith in a writer to actually BUY a book. It's been a while since I read and Ann Tyler and went for it.
The only review I can honestly write is "meh".
Can't wait for the libraries to re-open.

Interesting little story, but wasn't one of my favorites. I think I was expecting more.

I love Anne Tyler's books, but this one felt like a shadow of some of her more robust works (Amateur Marriage, Blue Thread). It was quite short and consisted of moments that felt either too slow or too rushed.

What an odd little book. I enjoyed its premise and tone and then, suddenly, it was over.

Tyler is still working the same field. The writing is excellent, the story sad, but hopeful.

This is a sweet story, although it is really more of a short story that a novel. Ann Tyler does a lovely job with her characters and will make you care for each of the flawed humans in this story. Overall a comforting tale to keep you company on a rainy weekend.

It felt more predictable than I'd hoped for upon starting. I kept reading to see if a plot twist would happen but didn't feel engaged with the book overall.

At a time when our routines have been thoroughly disrupted, we meet Micah Mortimer. He’s a 43 year old computer geek with a very strict schedule to his life. He needs everything to be just so. This has made it hard to maintain relationships. His routine is upset when a young college student seeks him out believing Micah is his father. His relationship to his “woman friend” Cass starts to unravel.

Redhead by the Side of the Road is typical Anne Tyler. Actually, it’s one of her best. But like all her books, you wait for something major to happen but it never does. Which is fine. This is a short, touching, bittersweet and often amusing book about a goofy guy that you start to really care about.

The interesting headline reveals a lot about Micah – that while he’s had his eyes open, he isn’t seeing what’s really going on.

I love books about second chances. Enjoy this one.

A generous 3. This is a very fast read. You can do it in a day.
The title is clever with next to nothing to do with the book.
Totally not what I was expecting. Just odd. Maybe just not my style.

A slight book and an easy read. Not much happens, so Micah’s transformation is subtle in only the way that Anne Tyler can render.
