Got some good chuckles out of me for sure! 
Definitely a short story (which I am generally less of a fan of) in that the pace is very fast and the characters remain relatively unchanged from start to finish. Definitely could have been longer and more developed. 
I will say that while I enjoyed the satire, I'm missing some knowledge of the society to really reeeeallly get it.

I enjoyed this book and found it easier to read and understand than Master and Margarita, which is the only other Bulgakov book I've read. I liked the sarcasm and irony in this book. Need to read it in Russian next!

Fun but quite heavy handed (and not particularly much done by the author to garner any sympathy for the poor dog-man in my opinion).
