Mad Honey is a great read for someone who wants to explore the idea of self criticism and recognition of privilege without reading something as confronting as CRT books. The story is well paced and provides the opportunity for women to be the focus in a genre which usually focuses on men.
This novel also was incredibly well written in regards to transgender Identity and the experiences/questions that transgender people ask themselves.
Overall not the best book in the world which will change your life, but a great read well worth your time.

Loved this. I live for the way Jodi Picoult unravels a story.
I have been exposed to so many perspectives in her books that I wouldn’t have necessarily considered and I appreciate and value that so much.
Lily - beautifully tragic. Devastating that her life was cut so short. I loved her character. She was so wise.
I loved the way they revealed her secret.
I enjoyed the explanations of gender versus sex.
As always, I learned something.
Great read.

“How similar does someone have to be to you before you remember to see them, first, as human?”

“There’s a difference between sex and gender. A person’s sex is the body’s biology - what’s between your legs and in your DNA. A person’s gender refers to what’s between your ears. Your own psychological sense of self - who you know yourself to be - is called your gender identity. If your gender identity doesn’t dovetail with your biological sex, you are transgender.”

Beautifully sad book, exploring the life and loss of Lilly. I loved how it bounced between timelines and POV’s, making you doubt the narrator. You’re caught off guard and swept in it all. Couldn’t put it down
