The Key to My Heart

Lia Louis

4.03 AVERAGE

I absolutely adore Lia Louis, her characters and her writing in general. She builds the most beautiful stories with the most heart warming characters. The Key To My Heart is a book that discusses grief and how we navigate it, how to rebuild your life, and how to continue living and loving.

While this is my least favourite of Louis’ books so far, it was still beautiful. The first half was a bit slow, learning about the characters and their grief, but the second half the story really unfolded and destoryed my heart and put it all back together.

Thank you to NetGalley and Lia Louis for providing the ARC.

Lia Louis is perfect at crafting heartfelt stories that tug on your heartstrings, and this one is no different. The way she weaves Natalie's story is amazing and visceral. You can feel her raw emotion depicted through Louis' masterful writing, You see how strong and resilient she is, and how deeply the death of her husband affected her. While this book is a love story, it's also a story of growth, change, and acceptance.

Another beautiful story from Louis.

I really enjoyed the way loss was portrayed in this novel.  Losing someone is never easy however I didn't like the drama in this book.  It felt very young for their characters.  I also am not a fan of getting into a relationship with someone while you are grieving. Please take the time to let go and get therapy.  Just work on yourself.

This love story was adorable. Natalie's journey through grief felt so believable and real. I think that the main issue I had with the book was the piano music thing, just felt toooo far fetched for me but other than that it was great. I also loved the final gesture from the male MC.
