Just very fun and very cute. Plus, ladies supporting ladies and using their smarts!
adventurous
lighthearted
fast-paced
The adorable adventures of Goldie Vance, teen detective continue in this volume and the positive representation of minorities continues to be a strength of this series. Even though attitudes toward people of colour and LGBTQIA identities would have been quite different in the 1960's I'm glad that this series eschews realism and historical accuracy for idealism and fun.
This was so cute, if a little unbelievable -- it was silly in a charming way. Goldie's past baddies making a reoccurrence was exciting and saved a lot of exposition space, so these issues were able to pack a ton of story onto every page.
This was a good one (re: not great). I appreciated how woke the GN was. Gender fluid characters, LGBTQ leads, every race proving they're smarts and how great they can be at their jobs--without any of it feeling forced. That said, I thought the Scooby Doo-yness of it was a bit too formulaic. Like how many times do I have to read/see a series where the detective makes you think it's one person and then OMG it's actually someone else! Isn't there a new way to catch the real criminal by now?
BUT, I could definitely see me reading this to Luca at a later date, maybe from the beginning. It's way less POW BAM then Hardy Boys, which I like (even if there was a gun involved) and way more Nancy Drew/PG-rated (note: not G, bc of said gun). And while I didn't get some references due to not reading previous volumes it didn't feel totally necessary for me to start at the beginning.

Another delightful Goldie Vance story! I really love this series.
Another fun adventure with Goldie on the case! I continue to love that each volume is a whole mystery story.
I think with reading this volume I'm officially caught up on the series (wow!).

Another cute volume in this series. It's definitely a lighter read and the plots can get more than a bit silly at times, but it's just nice to have a title with the aesthetic and feel-good mood of the 50s without having to deal with any of the sexism, racism, and homophobia of the actual time period. Great art as always and I loved all the cool new character designs for this volume.
there was a malfunction in the app when i was reading this book, which meant that i had to wait about 15 minutes for every page to load. so the fact that i read this book despite that error, shows how much i liked it. it was exactly the kind of fun, crazy adventure that goldie vance is known for.
THAT CLIFFHANGER?! this was a nice addition to Goldie Vance and I really had a fun time.
