Meh. This book was a let down, but I really liked the ending.

Entertaining, lesser-known horror gem with some twists. I recommend this one.

I liked the story, the characters could be a bit much sometimes. Parents seemed to be always making dumb decisions and not seeing the obvious, besides that I still enjoyed it.

This novel was pretty good, but not great. That end though... that was terrific. It was so perfect that I bumped it a star.

Interesting idea, characters fell flat with little development. Unnecessary side story about
the husband cheating on the wife
when it would've been more of a draw to focus on the kids' mindset and how things were effecting them. There was very little rise and fall of the story, itself, and the characters felt the same throughout, despite time passing.

The plot had a Stephen King feel to it and reminded me of the Twilight Zone episode “It’s a good life” where a little boy makes whatever is in his mind happen in real life, then his dad has him “wish it into the cornfield”. The book dragged on at times but story was unique.

This is a book I simply could not put down!

It is the story of a 10-year-old boy, Jack Peter, and his family in Maine around the Christmas holiday. As the story unfolds strange things start to happen... each member of the family starts to see or sense strange things. There is an air of death and horror in the air, but Jack Peter isn't phased by any of it. He just keeps drawing pictures of monsters, and those monsters seem to start showing up in real life.

"The Boy Who Drew Monsters" is part suspense/horror novel, but also a story about the struggles of family. Just as I like to watch horror movies late at night by myself, it was a treat to crack open this book late at night, long after the sun when down, when the house is making those spooky creaking noises that can never quite be explained.

Saying much more will start to reveal some of the fun of the book... so I'll simply suggest tracking down this novel by Keith Donohue, find yourself dark and stormy night, and settle in for quite a story.
