Meh. I get why she wrote in the style she did (a letter) but after awhile it just felt like too contrived.

I died. It's beautiful.

I really don't know how to feel right now. I feel so many different emotions, but none of them explain well enough how I feel about this book. It's so complicated. I hated some of the moments in this book, but I really loved others. Something about this book pulls you in and flips you over. Before you know it, you're viewing this book in an entirely different light than when you started it. It's strange how this book makes you feel different things all at once. That's the entire point though. The problem is, by the time you've grasped it all, it's too late. The story ends, and like Gemma, you find your heart aching for everything you finally understand.

This book was absolutely amazing!! I read w/in less than a week it was that good.

The best things about this book was the imagery. The Australian Outback that Ty took Gemma too was described very well& I loved it !! it's an image I won't forget. I also really liked Gemma. She had a realistic teenage personality, which I like hense the name REALISTIC fiction.
Ty on the other hand, was kind of.. Weird. Although he's a stalker& has had a pretty messed up life, I still think the way he acted should've been different. He was really tough & scary at some points, than soft & artistic at others it confused me. However I felt as if I knew Ty myself bc Gemma talked about & to him a lot. He told stories about his life & about hers. In my opinion, Ty was kind of a good guy. KINDA. he did kidnap a 16 year old girl that he'd been stalking for 6 years. Let's not forget that.
The character development of Gemma was pretty weak though. (appearance wise) The only thing we knew about Gemma is that she had black hair & green eyes. Was she fat? Was she tall? Was her hair long ? Short? I prettying ended up picturing Gemma as myself for most of the book. Ty's image I could picture very clearly. Especially his blue eyes which come up a lot in the book.
I also like how this book is written in a letter from Gemma to Ty. & I do think that Gemma really did love some parts of him :-)

I'm not sure what to think of this book. It was easy to read, but nothing really happened did it?

This book is insanely creepy and it kept me on edge. The only part that I didn't like was the fact that there wasn't a real fulfilled ending in my mind.

Stolen is a very interesting book. The plot was creepy yet original, and I liked it. It's just the way the the story was narrated that threw me off. If felt awkward and confusing.

Gemma is basically writing a memoir to her captor (aka Ty), so her experience of being kidnapped from an airport and held captive in the middle of some Australian desert is in first-person and past tense. But I often found myself getting confused and had trouble identifying if an event is currently happening or just a flashback. Then at the end when she's finished with her memoir (which was basically a long ass goodbye letter), it changes to present tense and I just got so annoyed.

Also, I found it unrealistic that Gemma could remember every word from their conversations, and every other detail that people don't usually remember in flashbacks (which is also probably why I had trouble reading it).

Last but not least, I think the author was trying to convince the reader to hope for Gem to develop feelings for Ty and stay with him even though he kidnapped her, but that just didn't work for me. I just wanted Gem to escape or be set free ASAP. And Ty just seemed like a really creepy guy, and I know I can't blame him cause he had a terrible life, but I just didn't want Gemma to end up with an overprotective guy like him.

SpoilerALSO, HE FREAKING STALKED GEMMA FOR A GOOD PORTION OF HER LIFE, KIDNAPPED HER WHEN HE GOT THE CHANCE, THEN EXPECTED HER TO FALL IN LOVE WITH HIM!! Like wtf!!??¿ I'd still be freaked the hell out if I was in Gemma's position. I probably wouldn't even consider the fact that he protected and watched over me at times. Plus, the whole Stockholm syndrome thing just isn't my thing.
