The plot thickens....
Interestingly, it seems like we are finally hearing about the females in the Cahill family. Maybe because of the author being female...

3 and half. I was excited at the end of this book--#9--that it looks like things wrap up in #10! I thought there were going to be 39 books and I wasn't sure I'd want to read that many. This volume had some fun revelations--little twists that I enjoyed.

What a great addition to this book series!

I loved finally putting the puzzle pieces together and figuring our Nellie’s deal! What a great twist that she got to become a Madrigol too!

Woah. Things just kicked up a bit. To the point where I'm actually regretting that I'm listening to one of these audiobooks every-other day. I did it to bring in some variety, but now I kind of want to skip my off days and finish the initial series.

Most everything of import happens at the end of the book, but the general adventure is still enjoyable. Dan, Amy, and Nellie head off to the Caribbean, and focus shifts a bit from a search for clues to a search for artifacts; one for each of the Cahill branches. Nellie's odd status is brought up again, and we learn quite lot more. More than even she knew!

Really, the ending is where the book shines, and that is a tiny bit unfortunate, because, if the entire book was that impressive, this would have broken straight through to a five-star book. However, this is a stand-out in the series so far. Just what I'd expect from Park!

Every time I read another extention to this series, I keep thinking, "now THIS is my favourite book in the series." And yet again, I find myself saying just that with book #9. The amount of character development, struggle, emotion, growth, trials, betrayal, and constant questioning of everyone's motives and where both Dan and Amy lie in the middle of it, is on an entirely different level with this book. I was utterly floored and amazed with how the characters developed in this book. Their flaws, triumphs and complications of their journey were laid bare. I was enraptured with everything and cannot wait for the final two books in this series. I've grown so incredibly fond of these characters and their perseverence, I'm so glad their story has been well told.
