Absolutely fantastic!!! I could not put this one down. Cat and Shane had me hooked from page one. The story kept me guessing and completely intrigued until the very end. The chemistry between them was amazing and I could not have enjoyed these characters any more. After only a few books by this author she is quickly turning into one of my favorites.

Hmm this one was hard for me get into. i was really excited about this book too and maybe i over hyped the book in my head?  I just felt like the flow of the book was very choppy and scenes often jumped all over the place.  There was also a minor fact thing about twins that I couldn’t get over, but I don’t want to dwell on it.

Other than that, the story line was still super fun and unique.  I loved Cate’s character and her personality, although I wish she stuck it to her boss πŸ˜‚.  I also wanted a better explanation from Shane though for the WHYYYY…..why 10 months? I wasn’t satisfied with his explanation…..but no spoilers!  So read it to find out what I’m talking about!!!

I loved the way we get a second chance for these two in a different way that we usually get it.

Shane is part of a famous rock band and hasn’t seen Cate since high school. As Cate is trying to purchase a house finds out that she is unbeknownst to her married to none other than Shane.

As these two reconnect so does their originally feelings for each other.

I was especially excited to get Shane’s story. He’s always shown up with such protective vibes and loyalty so to see him roll that over towards Cate makes you just love him.

I loved the right person wrong time vibes too. Sometimes we want them to work out from the start, but sometimes one or each of the characters need time to grow and become their best self so the other gets the best.

"I let her go once. I won’t make that mistake twice."

This book started well and I liked the whole "finding out we're married part" part. Shane & Cate had amazing chemistry and the epilogue was really adorable. When they initially tried to be together, Shane's mistake lead them to be apart but after a few months, he meets Cate again. I liked the way Shane's character slightly developed in the second half but his pov was confusing at times. And I think that Cate should've been more stronger because she forgave him way too quickly for so many things. I just wanted to see him grovel for the way he left her. Also, it was quite difficult for me to keep track of all the side characters because they kept popping up. The plot was enjoyable but some parts just felt stretched and could've been executed better tbh. So overall, this was a decent read and my rating for it would be 3.5 stars.

I received an ARC in exchange of an honest review

SPEAK OF THE DEVIL by S.L. Scott
Shane and Cate's Story
Tropes: Rock star, second chance, slow burn, surprise marriage, unexpected pregnancy
I found myself totally immersed in this book! Ms. Scott made me fall hard for both main characters!  Shane is a rock star God in his band and Cate is a geriatrics nurse.  Years ago, Cate had a real crush on Shane in high school. Shane actually thought Cate was too good for him. Now years later Cate comes to Shane with unbelievable news that they are married.  Now they work together to try and figure out what happened. As time passes, they realize they do have feelings for each other and act on them. Their chemistry is off the charts!! This is a definite must read in my opinion. The angst, the slow burn and all the steam made this one incredible read!!

First book by S.L. Scott, and I’m totally obsessed! This story is a hilarious, flirty ride packed with witty banter that had me cracking up every time Cat and Shane were together. Their playful teasing? Just perfection! ❀️

πŸ’ Slow Burn

πŸ’ Second Chance

Cat and Shane's chemistry? Off the charts! Shane is your typical rock star, while Cat is a no-nonsense nurse who thrives on her predictable life.

I love how Cat stands her ground! Shane is all in and determined to show her just how much she means to him.

I totally loved their story! If you’re into second chances, this book is a total winner! πŸ’–

I got an ARC of this book, and this is just my honest opinion.
