very good book! felt like a very personal insight into the trans experience. I think the message about how you cannot become who you really are by living in your head is very powerful and something that resonated with me personally. Great book but i gotta be real, Sasha Masha is a silly name ngl.

I love this book, a truly tender exploration of gender. It also feels like what high school felt like

An uplifting read that defies convention by spending time with a character who doesn't know themselves and only just begins to figure some things out over the course of the novel. That journey of discovery, without the need to figure things out entirely or put a neat bow of a label on things, is modest but remarkable, and a heck of a lot like real life.

I enjoyed this audio which was a relatively quick 3.5hrs read by the author about the trans awakening of Alex, a 17 yo boy from a wonderfully loving family who kind of accepted that he was a boy. He did boy things like get a girlfriend in Tracy, the smartest girl at school who he liked because she liked him but things always felt a little off between them.
Then he meets a gay boy named Andre who senses that he may be different and encourages him to recognize that maybe he isn't Alex but Sasha Masha and it's kind of lovely. Andre introduces him to other queer kids and elder queers in Coco and Green who I hope will be the community that support SM along his journey.

It's a beautiful and necessary story. I wish it was a little bit longer.
