Really hard to decide what I think of this author. There's so much tonal whiplash, because the books go from some humor or sweetness to like, really high stakes angst and violence at the drop of a hat. The touch of magic is always welcome, and these books always manage to charm me at least a little bit and get a couple of chuckles, but good lord, the intensity of the plot and the violence always just feels gratuitous to me. However, just because something isn't too my taste doesn't make it bad. It just means I don't have perspective to judge it properly.

I think the book would have been better with genuine infertility, instead of it being overcome by the power of love. Also,
I think the shot she fired should have killed the stalker. I, for one celebrate women's accomplishments in every field, including murder, and I think that letting her husband be the one to finally kill the dude undermines her.

okay i love a thirsty thirsty heroine, especially in a historical romance, and her weird innuendo ramblings did make me laugh.
but ultimately this was just nae for me, ye ken?
why keep mentioning that she was formerly "plump"? it was only to show how attractive and not-plump she must be now. eye roll.
why was Campbell (MMC) so taciturn and unpleasant? Does it hurt to be a hulking giant with a secret torment?
It's hard to buy into their romance when they barely converse.
