Most important thing you need to know: THE DOG LIVES.
As I’ve gone along in this series I like each book more than the last. I’m obsessed with the McPherson’s. And Ruth Urquhart has quickly become my second favorite audiobook narrator (after Mary Jane wells… honestly they are probably tied).
Read if you like:
Age gap
Marriage of… protection
Puppies!
Very hot and steamy historial romances
I love the witchy vibes, the Scottish lore, the gorgeous Scottish scenery, the deep family loyalty, the way each character is built upon, and I absolutely love the danger each of the FMC’s have faced in this series. Let’s not forget the side characters who are all charming and the hilarious Ms. McBean.
Campbell and Clarissa’s book was filled with so much pining, tension and so many tender moments while they are yelling at each other out of love they don’t think the other person feels. They are so stubborn, so afraid to say what they feel, but so gone for each other from the first moment they lay eyes on the other. Campbell and Clarissa dancing in the middle of the night sealed the deal on this being a 5 star read. ❤️

This one just didn't work for me, because the FMC was a complete imbecile. I mean, I get her rambling at the mouth was probably supposed to be cute, but it wasn't. She just looked like a goddamn idiot.
She was also a TSTL damsel across the board, which isn't a character type I deal well with. That plus her diarrhea of the mouth just made her utterly unlikeable to me.
Campbell deserved better than this useless, vapid chick.
Also, this is the second book (of three total in the series so far) where the youngest brother Rannoch was supposed to guard the FMC and the baddie swipes the chick right out from under him. So maybe let's not have Rannoch on guard duty anymore, kthx.

Campbell and Clarissa's book is finally here, and it is amazing!!
The 'Midnight in Scotland' series keeps getting better and better. 'The Temptation of a Highlander' is brilliant and had everything - a well-paced strong plot, fun characters, a devious and horrifying villain, a hot and steamy romance, and a tad of magic (make-out sessions via dreams) to tie it up altogether. If you have been following the series, you know there is a mystical aspect in each book. In this book, we also have Campbell, who is gifted with the sight that helps him see the future through his dreams, among other things.
I loved how the author created the right amount of suspense and menace surrounding the villain while creating a beautiful love story. Clarissa’s personality was so refreshing. She is such a fighter along with being smart and adorably charming. She does not wait to be rescued and tries to protect herself as much as she can. She knows when to be independent and when to rely on others. Her unintentional double entendres are hilarious, and I could really feel her embarrassment over it. Campbell is probably my favorite MacPherson and is a perfect match for Clarissa, and all their interactions were adorable.
This is a definite must-read! I can't wait for the next book in the series.
