What a great ending for this series - I do hope we‘ll get some bonus chapters down the line though! I‘m going to miss Sutter Lake.

Kennedy and Cain are perfect for eachother and this story just proves how good the two are together.
We got to know Cain two books ago and I was really excited to finally get to know him better. I couldn‘t imagine his past or what his story was and I wasn‘t disappointed.

Kennedy‘s story though. Wow I didn‘t expect this at all and I loved how she got through something so bad and did stuff so good.

The writing was again really good and I‘m excited to read more of this Author.

i tried but i swear each book is the same script with a slightly different trope - it was fine in the beginning but honestly I've read a good amount of Cowles' books and they all tend to have the same story it's repetitive

This is book four of the Sutter Lake series, and it is clear to see how each book keeps getting better. The story drew me in right away, and the two MCs complemented each other perfectly.

What to expect:
-Millionaire
-Heroine hiding from her past
-Protective hero
-Age gap (22, 36)
-Romantic suspense
-Small town

wow this one was so freaking good. this one was super emotional and had me in all my feels. Kennedy has gone through a lot with her family, and it made me so sad for her to have to go through what she has. she wants a fresh start where no one knows her, and she even changes her last name. she becomes the caretaker of this island, but soon enough a tech multi-millionaire comes and buys the property. Cain is so curious of Kennedy's secrets, and the more time they spend together makes them realize how much they want to be together. I love nothing more than a protective man, and Cain was exactly that. there was some suspense at the end, and in perfect Catherine fashion I ate that up!

Noone does Heroine in hiding quite like CC this and you already know I devoured this. Cain is the perfect brooding, overprotective alpha-hole and Kennedy is just such a sweetheart and I loved reading her story.

The found family feels are strong in this one and I especially loved seeing the bond between Cain and Tucker & Walker — yes they may be alpha-holes at times but positive male friendships just get me right in the feels.

You can really tell that this is where CC is starting to find herself in the romantic suspense genre — we get enough mystery on both Kennedy and Cain's part and that nice looming threat in the distance 👀

Also — go read the bonus scene at the end because it literally made me tear up.
