Alright so I did enjoy this one but I have to say I didn't enjoy the age gap considering she was only 22, I did really like Cain and his character development though. I feel like the romanc felt kid of disjointed but once they were together I could see it. I didn't see that twist coming at all which was nice. The epilogue felt a bit weird and I have to say I haven't really enjoyed any of the epilogues from this series because when the next book starts we are still in the past usually so that event hasn't occurred yet.
Moderate: Kidnapping
fast-paced
4.5
There was less suspense in this one compared to CCs other books, but I didn’t see the bad guys coming at all which made for a really entertaining last 15% of the book!

I shouldn’t have doubted.
I was worried that this couple would feel like outsiders to me and it wouldn’t work in The Sutter Lake Series. I should not have doubted that…

I have heard about this book, and Cain for so long and I was not disappointed. This has to be in my top 5 of all Catherine Cowles books. The main reason behind that is I loved Cain and Kennedy. They both have had a rough past. They came from different ways of life and their responses to it were completely different. I liked how Cain was constantly working through his issues. The brotherly bond was great with him, Tuck, and Walker. I wasn't a huge fan of the epilogue, but the bonus scene was perfect for them.
