Really enjoyed this entry in the series.

Really was having fun with how much sway Malcolm's prophecy-laden requests had over the direction certain characters took in the story. Also really enjoying what Sullivan is doing with Tressa's character, especially given that she stands as a form of opposition to Moya in a way thay makes Moya's character more relatable and less obnoxious. I was worried that Moya's character had truly jumped the shark after that nonsensical moment in the book where she stopped an arrow from hitting Tesh by shooting it out of the air with another arrow, but, fortunately, Sullivan reeled her back in the last half of the book.

Overall, if you have enjoyed the series thus far, then this entry should be a fun, entertaining read. Would recommend.

Feels so good to be back in this world and with Michael's writing!

3.5/5 stars

Unfortunately I think Age of Legend is my least favourite instalment in the series so far, I don't think that's a popular opinion though, and this is actually my husband's favourite up to this point. I follow MJS's updates in regards to his novels, so I knew going into this that it wasn't going to feel like a complete novel, like all his other novels do, but knowing something and experiencing something are two different things and it's extremely difficult to review something that feels very incomplete.

I wasn't a fan of the events that took place in this one please, please, please cut my favourite character some slack next novel! and Mawyndulë was especially unbearable in this instalment. I also thought Persephone acted very out of character in this novel, given the circumstances and the time skips that is understandable, but I would have liked to see her reach this change in character instead of being told why it happened. I have similar feelings in regards to most of the characters though, and would have liked to explore how they've changed after the time skip more. One character whose development I did enjoy was Tesh's, I really liked seeing more sides to his character.

What this instalment did well was world building. The exploration of the after-life was a great addition to the world and learning the origins of a certain legendary character was fantastic. I am very eager to continue on with the series as I need to know the fate of my favourites!
