This one was a sloooow burn but the last 20% or so it all comes together neatly. Some of the details of Lizzie’s past and relationship with Millie were confusing to me and felt like a loose strand, but the context to the story made sense by the end. A good book, would recommend for a decent well told story but it didn’t get my heart racing or my “wtf is actually happening” flag raised.

Overall, this wasn't bad. It was a very slow burn, lots of twists and turns. But not a stay-up-all-night read for me. Maybe because I read SO many thrillers? I don't know. But I saw the twists and turns coming long off. And I didn't care for any of the characters at all. I was actually disgusted by many of the characters and hoped death on them all at different points. Not great, but it was an ok thiller.

solid 4+. lots of twists and turns and i thought the two plots (central murder and lizzie's personal stuff) wove together nicely--not so perfectly as to be outrageous but still clever. mccreight did her homework on the legal stuff but it was never overdone. i really want to know what happened with case??? don't look up park slope real estate after reading this as i did as it will just make you very angry.

Suspenseful! Very entertaining story with lots of interesting characters. Nicole Kidman is making a movie of it.

This was an entertaining murder mystery.

SUMMER THRILLER ALERT!!

All Lizzie wanted to do growing up was to work in the US Attorney’s office. She knew she had the work ethic and the brains to boot. But when her husband who has a pretty heavy drinking problem gets into a costly accident, Lizzie must enter the world of corporate lawyers to financially support them both. She gets a call from one of her old law school friends, Zach, asking Lizzie to defend him for an assault charge against a police officer. Zach then tells her he was distraught because he had just found his wife’s battered and deceased body. She is hesitant to say the least and doesn’t want to get involved. She tells Zach she isn’t that kind of lawyer but when venting to her boss, her boss insists she takes the case. The more Lizzie digs, the less she wants to see of her former friend but now has to prove his innocence in a court of law.

A Good Marriage is 387 pages long and took me 5 days to read.

I’m giving this book a 4.5 out of 5! This story is nuts and has so many twists and turns I didn’t see coming. It would take me 10 paragraphs just to summarize this book so point-blank, READ THIS BOOK ASAP! This I the simmer thriller everyone will be talking about and you won’t regret jumping on board!

Thank you, Harper Books, for sending me this copy!

Here’s to the adventure of finding a novel novel!

Lacey

3.5 stars. I need some time to adjust. I wasn’t particularly satisfied by the ending.

3.5 stars

There are some implausible coincidences, but the author did an excellent job with the attorney characters and courtroom scenes. Also, the ending caught me by surprise.

I really enjoyed this book.

Very disappointing. I really liked this author’s first book but her second book and this book were both pretty terrible. This book is boring and has some plot holes that are never resolved. Skip this one.
