Is this the best mystery novel I've ever read? No, not at all.
Did I stay up late to binge-read it until I finished it? Yes, yes I did.
Such is the value of these kinds of mysteries: they're not going to change your life, they're probably not going to change your perspective on anything important, and you're probably not going to think about them much once you've read them, but dammit if they aren't compelling while you are reading them.

Hace unos meses leí 'No llores por un beso' de la autora y me gustó muchísimo. Me apetecía volver a leer una lectura con suspense, giros y donde hubiera un crimen involucrado.
'Asesinato en directo' se puede dividir en dos tramas: por un lado, el intento de descubrir quién fue el/la asesino/a de Betsy Powell hace 20 años y, por otro, el miedo a que 'Ojos azules' vuelva. Las dos tramas están unidas en la figura de Laurie.
Laurie perdió hace 5 años a su marido a manos de 'Ojos azules'. Desde entonces, vive con su hijo Timmy y su padre Leo (ex policía), con el miedo de que vuelva. Timmy fue testigo del crimen y solo recuerda una cosa: ojos azules ha matado a papá. Después del crimen desapareció y nunca más se supo... Pasados 5 años sin saber de él, Laurie (que es productora de televisión) ha ideado un nuevo programa 'Bajo sospecha', un reality en el que retomar casos no resueltos por la policía.
El primer episodio de este reality gira en torno a la 'Fiesta de Graduación' que tuvo lugar hace 20 años en la mansión de Betsy y Rob Powell. Esa noche Betsy fue asfixiada y el crimen está sin resolver. Todos los presentes son sospechosos, pero también podría haber sido alguien que se colara por una ventana abierta... Los que estuvieron presentes esa noche aceptan participar en el programa y en la reconstrucción del crimen. Lo interesante es que cada uno tiene un buen motivo para ser el culpable.
En mi opinión, es un buen libro: te hace sospechar de todos y no acabas de tener claro cómo se cerrará la trama. También creo que los últimos 6 capítulos son demasiado veloces y se cierra todo de forma apresurada. Sin embargo, he disfrutado de la lectura y me gusta el final.

The main killer was easy to predict. I didn't like the Blue Eyes story line- not enough was established in terms of his motive and I HATE when villains tell their victims why they are doing what they are doing right before they (attempt to) kill them.
Typical Mary Higgins Clark -- predictable, fast-paced murder mystery told from different perspectives. The story's suspenseful, although not very original or complex. Also, the writing -- sigh -- MHC's the queen of tell vs. show. I've loved MHC since junior high and I still read every book she writes, even though they're really just not all that great. Still, they're fast, easy, mostly clean reads, so yeah ...
MHC was my favorite author from 7th grade on. I'm not sure if my tastes have changed or if her writing has, but the last couple have lacked a little. Too much fluffer in the beginning makes it boring. Still not a bad story once you get into it
This book started off with a bang. A husband gets killed in a park while his son watches at age 3 in a swing set. The killer threatens the 3 year old that he's coming back for his mother and him. Then we fast forward 5 years. The mother is working as a producer for a show where a murder happened and was never solved 20 years prior. I found it a bit unrealistic and confusing because she added way too many characters and back stories. I started to skim to get to the first story. Glad I didn't DNF because I would have done so in the past. Hoping the series gets better as the series goes on.

a quick read that follows the standard plot twists and conclusion for most MHC books - still an enjoyable story and a satisfying end.
