It's not usually the kind of book I'd pick, but I really enjoyed it and rather liked the pace, it was quite easy to keep reading just because, even when there's almot never a clear direction of where the plot's going. Past the first half of the book, there's a more clear structure maybe, so it's definitley more intriguing!

I'm left with some doubts and stuff to think about, which I like because it made the book more interesting. At the same time, I understand some bits were necessary for the plot, but if I get picky, I'm a little like "come on, just do something, or say somthing and ta-da, mystery solved!"

Side note: I find it quite curious how it was so easy to read with a rather fast pace and at the same time I couldn't help thinking "Man, it must be awfully terrible and tedious to be you, with aaall this overthinking going on... slow down a bit, please!" Anyway, I felt that way for him, but not personally while I was reading; it was actually quite a ligth and entertaining read!

I loved how I didn't know what was going on until the very end!

This book was frustrating and good all at the same time. I guess that is a testament to how well Julian Barnes wrote Anthony as a character. The second half of the book was impossible to put down. I was curious as to what direction it was going and what would happen. Wow, what a path that this story followed. I really enjoy and appreciate books that make me think long after I am finished and this one filled the bill.

Enjoyable read, this book can be mowed through quickly but will leave you with plenty to mull over the ending almost begging the reader to go back and have a second crack at it, know where it is all headed.
Veronica drove me bonkers and my inner Tony was craving an explicitly laid out all encompassing ending but the uneasiness, ambiguity and the efficient wrap up of the final pages is in keeping with the charm of this book and meant that it will linger long after it has been tucked neatly upon the shelf.
Will definitely be going back for a second round.

Although usually not the kind of book I read this one has a lot of characteristics I like in one. It keeps you guessing until the last moment. You end up having a lot of theories and guesses that are probably half right or not at all. I thought Veronica's raped by her father and/or brother, I even thought Adrian was Tony son. I mean it leads you on and then it's nothing of waht you were thinking about. Veronica could at least go and be direct with Tony because it's groing a bit annoying but it was about the jurney and self-descovery and understanding of self and others. This one's a really good book really.
