I really liked this book by Lisa. I wanted to love it like her others, but I wasn't as connected to these characters. The back and forth was too quick for me sometimes...to the point where I forgot whose side of the story I was reading. I think if it weren't for that I would have liked it a lot more.

It was a fun read. Nothing like this author's other books, not as interesting or captivating but enjoyable enough.

What an awesome book with parts read in Anthony’s voice. It really made me think about autism in ways I never had. A very emotional and wonderful book!

He beginning was a little slow but the end made up for it. What a touching story about autism, life, and love. I have a niece and nephew on the spectrum and while they're not nonverbal I can understand some of the frustrations Olivia had with dealing with it.

I didn't quite get what was going on with Beth's novel at first, I was skeptical since it was mirroring Anthony's life but it all made sense after.

I greatly enjoyed this book. It is not my favorite book by Lisa Genova, but I still enjoyed it. Her other two books are written as narrated by the character with the “brain issue” whereas this book is only partially done that way. And without giving anything away, the way those parts are written is done by a concept that I didn’t expect from this highly educated author. Because she chose to use a non-verbal autistic child as her character, she was obviously limited as to how to get his viewpoint into the book though. Overall, I did like it and recommend it and her other books. When compared to "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" or "House Rules", I liked them better but really, I don’t know that you can compare them because they are completely different stories.

I actually liked this one. I thought it was better than the previous book I read by the same author. I wasn't sure where she was going with the story at first but once she developed the characters a bit more, I loved the idea of how the women connected. I can't say much more than that without spoilers but this one was pretty good.

My fourth Lisa Genova book and my least favorite. I wasn't at all happy with a certain premise in the story that required me to suspend disbelief and made me go "Really?!" It felt as if a filler was needed to connect two important parts of the story and the easiest route was taken.

But there were parts in there that are Lisa Genova's strengths, as she has repeatedly demonstrated in her books. To give the reader as close a view as possible about a certain condition, talking about it in layperson's terms without dumbing it down, telling the reader what's happening to that person, and finally showing how that condition affects the families. For doing that again in this book, I give a 3.

Billed as the story of an autistic boy, but really more the story of two women on Nantucket Island. I wanted to love this book. I love the double meaning of the title. I love the theme. I cried through the last few chapters. But mostly I found the book a bit weird. Not the same level as the other two books by this author.
