Well done origin story of the Emerald Archer. Especially for someone new to this particular comic genre or wants a little back story to the tv show.
This was a good, quick read. I've never really read a Green Arrow origin story, so it was interesting to see it all come together. I wish it had been a little longer. I would like to have seen more with Ollie trapped alone on the island learning to survive. Regardless, a decent tale.
We discussed this run, plus the Green Arrow's complicated history in a special episode of the All the Books Show: https://soundcloud.com/allthebooks/episode-233-green-arrow

This one is worth reading just for the art alone. Each page is monochromatic, and the colors are really distinctive. The blue water pages are gorgeous, and the green really makes the island feel lush. The first few beginning pages are a nondescript brown, which so contrasts the wild and crazy life that Oliver is leading - but also implies that it is dull, vivid-less. It's very clever.
Story-wise, it's pretty solid...good origin story, and I enjoyed the introduction of China White. Some of it was a little confusing, though I admit I am easily confused. It is worth looking at just for the art.
And, I love the Diggle shout-out...now I know where the name from the tv show comes from. Much deserved.

This is a wonderful introduction to the Green Arrow character. If you're a fan of the Arrow television show, you'll love this.
An absolutely superb origin story for Green Arrow. The grittiness of Arrow before it lost the plot or the pace. Oliver Queen on a deserted tropical island learning to survive and to shoot arrows like nobody's business before turning to heroism in a moment of need.
Violent while spinning a version of Queen that won't sink to killing anyone, the art in this is spectacular but what makes it is the writing which is several deviations above the norm for comic prose. Quality stuff.

Only thing wrong with this comic was that it was too short. Is there more?

I'm not sure what the original post-crisis origin of Green Arrow was, but this is incredible. Having just read The Wonder Year, I really liked the difference as to how Green Arrow gets his name. I enjoyed seeing the hardships he went through.
I'd be curious to see what the original creators thought regarding the similarities between Green Arrow and Batman. It's interesting to see Oliver was really the playboy that Bruce only pretended to be. And as a result, Oliver needed a very specific harrowing event, or course of events, that led to his becoming a hero.
This story definitely makes me interested to continue reading Green Arrow stories.
