THIS WAS INSANE
No murder mystery book has done it like this I’m so sure of it. Everything was beautifully executed. And I can certainly see why they’ll turn it into a series, so excited to watch it.

I was actually lost and couldn’t even take a guess. Didn’t expect Elliot to do that shit, although he was defensive when Pip was interviewing him. Anyway, he’s disgusting and I’m glad he got thrown away in jail.

Becca though, that girl scared me. Even if she didn’t kill Pip, the intention was there, she already drug her and she threw her sister in the septic tank so I don’t really pity her.

Pip was incredible, I liked everything that came out of her mouth. And Ravi, I want us to get married as soon as possible, he’s attractive in so many ways.

I really loved this book, it was better than I had expected. It’s been in my tbr list for so long and I’m glad I finally gave it a go.

Page turner! I didn’t realize it was a YA book when I first picked it up so my rating is that I think the characters could have been more complex and the story darker but it also might fit perfectly well into the genre. But overall an enjoyable read.

Completely addictive and very fun. I could not put this down!

This reminded me a little of season 1 of Veronica Mars, in the best way.

This book is so good! The story is gripping and well written. If you like true crime podcasts then I think you’d like this story. I thought the relationships between the various characters were incredibly well done, in particular. My only criticism (if I had to pick something to criticize) is that sometimes the dialogue was unrealistic, particularly between the main character and her parents. But that is so minor it didn’t even warrant taking off half a star IMO. Looking forward to reading the rest of this series!

Five years ago, Andie Bell was murdered by her boyfriend, Sal Singh. The police know he did it. Everyone in town knows he did it.

But in the same small town, Pippa Fitz-Amobi isn’t quite as convinced. For her senior project, she decided to uncover the case and prove Sal’s innocence.

What she finds is a twisty, sickening trail of lies, deceit, and someone desperate to keep the secrets hidden.

I started this book at 3pm on Friday and finished it at 5pm on Saturday. Impossible to put it down! It was incredibly fast paced and straight forward which is what my brain needed.

What I liked:
  • it’s a quick read (even at almost 400 pages). It goes by so fast.
  • So many twists I didn’t expect, by the end I had only figured out half of the mystery!
  • The book has multiple sections that show texts between characters, emails, etc. It was a fun touch.

What I didn’t care for:
  • The characters are pretty one dimensional, but this is a YA book so I can’t be too picky on this.
  • There’s a few moments where I had to suspend belief that an 18 year old about to graduate high school could figure out something better than detectives. But hey - it comes with the genre.
  • Some of the dialogue was very juvenile and the tone shifted between grief filled dialogue to a sudden joke.

Overall I really recommend this one if you want a fun mystery that you can shut down your brain and enjoy!

I didn’t like this as much as I hoped I would.
This book contains a lot of content that could be upsetting and triggering for readers. Some of that content includes murder, SA, roofying and the family dog dying by drowning (which was not necessary to the plot I don’t think)
It was an interesting concept but left me thinking: meh

such an amazing book. while i read this book a couple months ago, i could tell you detail after detail regardless. the writing of the book pulls you in from the start with no escape, and you just keep reading until the end. the three part series will always be a favorite of mine

Really good!! This read like a true crime podcast especially when you listen to it on audiobook. The only change I would make is to have a twist at the end. It’s great that she predicted the outcome at the end but it took away from the suspense a little!
