You'll have me. No matter how thick the night, I will always be there to light your way.

Hafsah Faizal pagame la terapia.

Después de haber prácticamente padecido We Hunt the Flame por el pacing, decidí tomarme con MUCHÍSIMA CALMA We Free the Stars. La calma: casi un año. Y no me arrepiento.

I’m crying. Bawling like a little baby.

This book was so so good. The prose? The story? The characters? The ending? I can think of no better way for it to go.

My only, potential, gripe is that there was a section in the middle that I stalled reading bc i was afraid of where the story was going to go. Alas, the ending made up for it tenfold, and I sincerely intend to reread this series.

Especially as someone who is afraid of love/ relationships— I cried, I sobbed. If anyone deserves a happy ending, it is them.

Definitely one of my top reads of the year, 5 stars isn’t high enough

It’s probably more like 4.5 stars because the first 30% was a little slow, but wow wow wow the ending was amazing

Buddy reread with Halima!

I don’t really have anything to add since my last review, but PLEASE read this duology if you haven’t already! I’m in love!

Buddy read with Halima!

Well, let me just say I’m very sad to be leaving behind these characters as well as Hafsah Faizal’s incredible writing style. I will definitely need to reread this duology sometime in the near future. If you like any of the following: enemies to lovers, slowburn romance, a badass female protagonist, a happy ending, and/or diverse reads, this book is for you.

The next quote is a SPOILER for literally the very last page. I will use the spoiler tags, so please don’t click if you haven’t read this book; it just didn’t feel right to not include it.

I once loved, he has inked on his wrist. I will again, he inked on the other. He opened his palm and a plume of shadow curled to life. It was a reminder: People lived because he did.” Such an amazing parallel to when he was introduced in the first book with “People died because he lived.”

After the last book, it was really hard to enjoy this one. Just wasn't for me.

I liked this more than the first book, but the end ruined it a little.
I fell in love with the characters and the dynamic of the zumra, so I was more hooked from the start. But the ending felt a bit rushed. The
battle with the Lion
happened so quickly for all that built up. It dragged for chapters
as an impossible mission and then ended in minutes.
It was all to have magic again and we read almost nothing about the world after it.
I wish the
confrontation between Yasmine and Altair happened
, it was another thing that the writer made me expect would happen dramatically and then didn’t. And I would’ve liked to see more of Nasir and Zafira. The last chapters truly left a bittersweet taste.
Still, I liked the writing style and found the story interesting. (Altair best character! I can’t believe he’s my favorite when I wanted him gone for a big part of the first book)
