This book picks up right where the other one stops. It had me hooked from start to finish, every time a chapter ended and switched to a different character I'd be like ugh no I want to finish the other story line. The other thing this book pulls off really well is the way that the main team seems to almost succeed and then something derails or ruins their plans and they have to pivot. Normally this feels really repetitive in books but with this story I felt that it was written so well that I would just want to keep seeing how they would work through the next obstacle until the end of the book. The love story between Nasir and Zafira is also beautifully written. The amount of quotes that I have saved of him just yearning for her and then on top of that quotes from the story itself. This author's writing is phenomenal
I enjoyed the first one. This one needed 3/4 of its really bad “romance” writing edited and throne out. It’s Attack of the Clones rough. Astair and Kalif are amazing g characters. The leads….meh.
Six of Crows meets Lord of the Rings meets Arabian nights in this magical fantasy duology✨
Picking up right after the first one left off, I completely consumed this sequel in two days. I found myself mentally cheering at parts (hello enemies to lovers) and wanting to throw it across the room (hello slow burn). It was a roller coaster, with the plot and action ebbing, flowing and receding throughout the chapters and overall slowed down at various times. Although I personally held more questions than answers by the end, the conclusion satisfied me enough to have LOVED this series.

I really enjoyed this series. It’s slow burn with no spice but the lore and world building was great. My only complaint is the length and I felt some stuff was not needed or repeated. Overall a great series and ending.
