i have such mixed feelings about this book. this author is able to describe and set up the environment of the world so beautifully, if she only wrote about that i would read her book again. but the dialogue and character relationships felt so disjointed at times, and i almost DNF’d halfway through the book. the miscommunication & self loathing tropes went in for wayyyy too long. that being said, after they FINALLY resolved that i really enjoyed it and almost couldn’t put it down. really good ending to the story, super well done

The writing is so gorgeous in this book but I feel like there were pieces of the narrative that were obscured by it. What I really feel like it needed was a stronger editor to make the plot just a little more cohesive. Sometimes I felt like understanding what was going on was like trying to see through a dense fog. Good story though.

I have to let everyone know right now that I am not the same person that I was before I read this book.. I thought the first book had changed me but NO.. NOTHING PREPARED ME FOR THIS ONE!!!!!!

It has everything I could ever want in a fantasy book ESPECIALLY the romance between Zafira and Nasir and found family.

I also love love LOVED Altair with every fiber of my being it’s literally so insane. The beginning of the first book Altair vs the second book Altair is crazy to think about I can’t lie… Like at some points when I felt like I was getting bored Altair would come in and say something stupid.. LIKE GUYS HE’S MY HIMBO I’M SORRY BUT HE’S MINE!!!!!!

The actual plot line of the book is very similar to other ya fantasy books, however, Hafsah Faizal’s writing has made this very memorable to me. I cried during so many parts of the book just because of her descriptions alone, it’s insane.

There were so many important messages in this book, one of them being female power and I loved it!!! Zafira and Kifah slayed the entire book.

This is probably one of my longest reviews ever but this book will seriously have my heart forever and ever. NASIR AND ALTAIR ARE MY POOKIES FR…

perfect ending but altair was missed at beginning
