Another nice addition to the Bones collection. It was interesting to see how our own preconceived notions of certain non mainstream religions could affect not only how we look at those around us and also spur others into regretable actions towards those that practice them. Too many people hate what they don't understand and refuse to actually learn about what it really is and would much rather spout mainstream negativism and lies believing it is true just because they heard it from the radio, tv, newspaper or a politician. Whether it's Wiccan or just our opposing political points of view, it's just sad that we don't try to learn for ourselves.

Not as good as her (much, much) earlier books. I was looking forward to Tempe and her exposure to Wicca, Voodoo, Santeria, etc. (and I do mean "etc.", since there were a number of pagan religions brought up), but all she seemed to offer at the end of the book was a small aside on America being a "nation afraid". I wonder what nation isn't afraid of a pagan religion. Tempe's passion for the underdog seemed a little "tempered" this time around.
I absolutely love all of her books!! I own the whole 14 book series of Temperance Brennan & can't wait to own the newest one!!
I am so incapable of being objective about Tempe Brennan. I loved this completely.

I wish I could've tried to continue on, but this just wasn't digestible for me.
As a fan of the show Bones which is loosely based on these books, I thought I would finally give her writing a go as I'd found a copy in a charity shop. Starting with the 11th installment may not have been my brightest idea.
The first chapter was dull, and i suppose it is meant to be dull. Brennan is in a meeting, and we're following along with her internal monologue, and she starts listing things that she has to do. For example, "Specimen to Alex" and then proceeds to tell us who Alex is. This goes on for the subsequent 7 items on her list (not including the following which do not come with a descriptive paragraph as the writer assumes we know how to pick up dry cleaning). I usually enjoy fantasy books, and I'd compare this to lore dumping, I'm sure all of the information is important and relevant, or will be at some point, but having it presented in this way condemns it to be forgotten.
The second chapter follows her arrival at a crime scene, and we are launched into a 4 page historical recount of the surroundings of Charlotte. Why? What is the relevance of that at this point of the story?
I really wanted to enjoy it, but for now, I'll donate the book back to the charity shop in the hopes that someone else finds some joy in reading it.

Another satisfying chapter in the Temperance Brennan series, complete with mystery, forensics, personal battles, and a touch of humor.
