‘The Trials of Ophelia’ is the third instalment in the series, following our main character’s story just where we were left off in book two. Ophelia and the team are on the hunt for the rest of the Angel fragments, while Malakai’s POV focuses more on the war front and the attacks happening there.
I really enjoyed the pacing in this one (the best one so far for me), and I didn’t mind one bit the change of POVs that was happening. New character introductions went smoothly in this book as well, without it feeling forced or crowded. This book was also 50% fantasy and 50% romance, which isn’t really a bad thing - I was expecting it to be less focused on the romance part.
Another detail that I am enjoying throughout the whole series is the small snippets that are building towards the climax in the last book; the hints aren’t big or cliffhangers, but just enough of a tease to keep you on the edge of your seat while reading. And the titles for each part of the books so far are so smart!
One little detail that bugged me is that the climax of this book was also kind of rushed (the epic battle, let’s say). I was expecting it to be more... big, I guess. Overall, though, a great continuation to the series, and I’m off to pick up Cyph and Vale’s novella!

Nicole's writing is so beautiful and descriptive that it makes it easy to immerse yourself into this world. All her characters have a purpose and their own demons to fight but in the end, you know they have each other's backs. The relationships, romantic or otherwise, are profound and special but of course my favorite will always be Ophelia and Tol.♥️ Now with a new problem arising and still having to find the remaining emblems, I'm excited to dive into the next book.
The rollercoaster of emotions that Nicole took me on with this book WAS CRIMINALLLLLLL. I am so invested in all of these characters and their stories and the story as a whole so far is just chefs kiss. Found family is absolutely one of my favorite tropes and it is all over this series and I just love how all of the friends would literally do anything for each other.
Honestly, put all of the FMC (except that one mf) at a round table and just PASS ME AROUND my goddd. They are all so hot and badass and I want to be apart of their friend group. I love Ophelia so much, but also don't get me started on TOLEK VINCEINZO because that man is one of the best book boyfriends I've had the pleasure of reading about. He is so down bad and it just sends me into a giggly/kicking feet fit every single time.
I love that this series is multi POV and I get excited (fist pumping) when there's a new POV for us. Because there are multi POVs though sometimes the next chapter switches and makes me want to SCREAM because shit be happening and I wanna stay with one character. The last two hours of this book was insane and I cannot wait to read the rest of this series. I know Nicole is going to break my heart and put it back together again.
Ophelia, Tolek, Malakai, Jez, Erista, Cyph, Vale, Rina, Mila, Barrett, Dax, Lyria I love you until the stars stop shining.

Honest ARC review:
Amazing!! I loved this book! The pacing was perfect! The action was spread throughout but we also got enough down time to really dive in to characters and relationships. I love the mystery surrounding the curse and uncovering new information. The way Nicole writes trauma and how the characters deal with it is beautiful. She does a great job of showing different ways someone handles trauma and I really appreciate that. I’m super intrigued to learn more and see how the next book plays out! I highly recommend reading this series!
