fun read, good vibes. i like that it talks about a variety of topics without being self important. great beach read and i would love to see it made into a movie
'Mary Jane' is the most heartwarming and beautiful coming-of-age story set against the backdrop of free love and rock n roll I have read... maybe ever? It made me laugh out loud and root for everyone in the story with a ferocity of a thousand burning suns. Most of all though, I rooted for the 14 year old girl who just absolutely stole my heart as she did steal hearts of the family she spent the summer with. It was a terrific story of forgiveness, self-betterment, self-discovery and coming out of one's shell. I loved them all so much and a part of me wishes I had read it when I was 14 years old and knew nothing of the world. Oh how I knew nothing and had no idea about anything. However, I did sit at the kitchen's radio and record my favourite songs off of the radio on a cassette. Those who did that, ever, will understand this book and how huge it is in its 'slice of life' coziness and magic.
Just please, oh my god, just read it. And blast 'Imagine' while you're doing it.

I really enjoyed this one a lot and I went in with no expectation! It’s not my typical genre but I liked it a lot and because I did the audio I was super surprised and excited to hear Mary Jane at the end (iykyk)

I finished this is one sitting! I loved the characters who were all well developed. The story line was unique and genuinely heartwarming. I loved the flip flopping of roles. Overall a great read and highly recommend.
