Not great literature, but a fun read. Bones is so Spike-coded I thought this might have been re-tooled fanfiction. I like a fast-paced action thriller, but this moved so quick that it felt silly at moments, especially the romance. Chill out and let things develop, it’s not a race to the finish.
I legitimately loved this book. Which honestly somewhat surprised me. Reading it took me back to the early days of the Sookie Stackhouse books when I was completely in love with vampire related fiction. It wasn't the typical plot and I very much enjoyed how badass Catherine was. And don't even get me started on Bones. I mean that in a good way. A few things made me slightly annoyed, like the mother for one, but I don't think you're supposed to like her so I can't hold that against the author. If you like books about the supernatural and you like a nice romance that doesn't get sucked into some awful triangle (hopefully that doesn't happen in later books in the series), then this book is worth a read.

Absolutely still one of my favorite vampire novels to this day and one of the final shoves I needed to write my own work. I'm not a romance writer myself, but Frost's characters and world are so vivid, I was inspired to finally breathe life into my own! I will always appreciate that final bit of inspiration.

It definitely had the spike vibes which is why I wanted to read it! But the writing was cheesy and not for me. It's obviously setting up for a big story but I don't think I'll read another one unless I get into a particular mood.
3 n a 1/2 Stars actually!
Loved this book!!
The story opened in the perfect way.
I loved every bit of the action and of course, it had one of my most favorite things in it-a kick ass, smart mouthed heroine.
I did not like Bones right away. But gradually, he became awesomer and awesomer.
Another thing which always tips the scales for me is good humor and this book had that down pat.
I also loved Spades and would want to read more about him and meet Ian.
There was no one big bad wolf till the very end and I liked that-it made the story more interesting.
Oh and I hated the mom's guts like I was supposed to.
It was only the too-typical ending that kept me from rating this book 4 stars.
Onward to the next one!
