A friend was raving about this book, mentioning that they had multiple editions of it and that I should read it.
A few days later I noticed that it was included in the free audible catalogue, but only until the 9th of September. So I downloaded it and lined it up as my next listen. I went on holiday for a week and forgot to start it, when I returned I had a backlog of podcasts I hadn't listened to and by the time I caught up and got to Nettle and Bone, I realised I didn't have much time left!
N&B is about two sisters (technically three, but the first: Damia dies very early in the book - before you get to know her) who are princesses. Kania goes off to marry a handsome prince to solidify an alliance so Marra is sent to a convent so as to not pose a threat to the line of succession.
Unfortunately, the prince is a horrible piece of shit and the princess Kania is locked in a loveless marriage full of violence. When Marra finds out about this she sets out on a quest to find a way to free her sister from the domestic violence. A quest along many fantasy books, filled with royal kingdoms, knights, magic and fairy folk but focuses on the love of sisters and the ability to do anything for family that make this book original and amazing.

This is my second T. Kingfisher book. I really enjoyed Swordheart but am just not very interested in the story or attached to the characters in Nettle & Bone. Not giving up on the author, but I think this book just isn’t for me

The gravewife is definitely my favorite character as she has a hint of granny weatherwax about her. I'd like a spin off book based on her. The godmother would make a good side character in the book too along with finder and the chicken.
Venerous' story could also make a good novella also.
