I love love love this book! Lani Lynn Vale is one of my favorite authors, but Whiskey Neat, the book prior to this one in this series, is my least favorite LLV book so I was apprehensive about this one. I'm happy to say that this is one may be my favorite LLV book! I love Mig's integrity. I love that Annie isn't a wishy washy idiot. It didn't seem to drag. Just an all around great read.

Ok I like Lani’s books, but this book was just terrible, as in the subject matter. Rape is rape, no ifs no buts no qualifiers.
Spoiler If this whole story was flipped nobody would have sympathy for the rapist. There are comments here where people have sympathy for Jennifer when Annie taunts her in jail. But thinks about it if the story was flipped. A woman is drugged and raped, the male rapist then holds his right to his kid over his victim’s head and makes her marry him, he ends up going to jail but keeps writing manipulative letters to his victim re-victimizing her (which is a real thing rapists do) and tries to hold on to his “parental rights” to the product of his assault. No I have no sympathy and neither should anyone. The H never actually discusses the emotional repercussions of his rape. This just shows how men who are raped try to respond and how little sympathy or care they get after a rape.
I just can not handle the subject of this story.

I wish i could give half stars, Jack and Coke would get 3 and a half. I liked it, but not as much as Whisky Neat which is the first one. A few other reviews mention my primary issue with the book, and this is that the male lead married the woman that drugged him and raped him because she was pregnant with his baby. I understand why he did it but it still bothered me. Not enough to make me stop reading but enough that if I ever reread the series I would probably skip this one.
Another part of reading a romance series that I love that was hard about this book is the time line of other characters we have already met. I was having a hard time figuring out where the first book and the second book overlap. Which is not a deal breaker, I mean this book was about Mig and Annie not Griff and Lanor but it makes me wounder if the rest of the books will be like this.

I have much less like this book than the previous one ... The characters had a lot of potential (I liked the heroine and the plot with her ex-husband) but there are a lot of stuff that disturbed me :
- the hero who is
Spoilerraped BUT who married the woman who raped him because she is pregnant
... REALLY ???
- the hero who forces the heroine to take care of
Spoiler his evil pregnant ex-wife and they all live together
... UUHHHHHHH ???
- it had disturbed me a bit in the first book but nothing more. Now I had the impression that it was worse : the sex scenes are a little odd anatomically (some positions, even when rereading, I don't see how it was possible ><)
In short, I will read the next book out of curiosity anyway but I am dubious ...
