Boy Like Me

Oh my god. I literally wrote an ESSAY of a review but I accidentally swiped away. ARGHHH. This is terrible I put my whole soul in that review. Anyways I’ll give a short one.

First of all: I love you Simon James Green! I think I’ve told you when we met but you’re books have changed my life in the best way possible. This book as well does a lot for me and makes me both sad and hopeful at the same time. I’ve looked up to you ever since I’ve read your first book and after this one I look up to you even more. I wish I could give all the Jamie’s in the world the warmest hug and beat up the people who hurt them. This book angered me because I grew up with two extremely loving parents and I can vividly remember the first time I was faced with homophobia. It’s unfair and the worst pain ever and I don’t wish that upon anyone. I’m glad I am living in a time where books like these are legal and out there to educate people because I can’t imagine what it must have been like for Jamie & *Spoiler* growing up in such a hateful time.

Okey I hope I’ve made it clear what this book has done to me and how good I think it is. I want to end this review on one note: f*ck you disgusting bigots who still, to this day, are homophobic, racist, sexist, ableist and what not. I wish you all the best but please for the love of GOD leave my life. I’ve dealt with enough pain ever since I was little for being different and I am tired to see homophobic people blatantly hate on my sexuality for nothing. I am in a very good relationship and I am very happy. My family loves me, my friends do and especially my boyfriend so I have no room for you and your bullshit opinions in MY sexuality. Get a life and get out of mine.

AND SIMON FOR PRESIDENT!!!

Simon James Green does it again. While the subject matter is a little more serious than his other books, it’s still filled with humour and warmth and so much heart. Everyone should read this book; a little more empathy in this world would be a wonderful thing.
